TEXO was tasked with conducting a comprehensive glass and façade inspection of London’s iconic Leadenhall Building. Over a span of three weeks, the team executed more than 60 drone flights, meticulously documenting the building’s condition prior to its final approval. This approach not only ensured thoroughness but also maintained stringent safety standards, showcasing the strategic application of drone technology in urban environments.

    Key Outcomes:

    • Cost Savings: The use of drones resulted in significant financial benefits, with reported savings exceeding £300,000.
    • Time Efficiency: The project timeline was accelerated, completing the inspection eight weeks faster than traditional methods would have allowed.
    • Data Volume: The operation captured approximately 8,000 high-resolution images, providing a detailed visual record of the building’s façade.

    Technological Highlights:

    • DJI Matrice 350 RTK: Chosen for its robust design and IP55 rating, this drone offered increased wind resistance and the capability to gather data from extended distances using multiple payloads. Its resilience during the winter inspection period ensured reliable operation with minimal weather-related interruptions.
    • DJI Zenmuse P1: Equipped with a 45MP full-frame sensor, the P1 camera captured high-quality images with low noise and high sensitivity, allowing for extended operational timeframes crucial during the winter months.
    • DJI Zenmuse H20: Featuring a powerful 23x optical zoom and up to 200x maximum zoom, the H20 camera was essential for capturing detailed data from a distance, maintaining consistency and quality even in challenging flying conditions.

This project exemplifies how integrating advanced drone technology can lead to substantial cost savings, enhanced efficiency, and improved safety in complex urban inspections. The strategic selection of equipment and meticulous planning were pivotal in achieving these outcomes, setting a benchmark for future projects in the industry.
