As Drone technology is growing at an exponential rate, COPTRZ has realised the demand from the Education and Government sector is growing even faster. Jamie’s knowledge of emerging technologies and different applications stems from experience in helping hundreds of people start their own successful drone business. Whether you’re wondering what training you’ll need and what drone will suit you best, or you already have an application in mind and are ready to take off in the exciting world of drones, Jamie is here to help you succeed.
EDUCATIONAL BODIES ALREADY USING DRONES
The engineering and construction industries are based on the human relationships between many project stakeholders to achieve delivery excellence. Enhanced processes and digital tools cannot replace people, either as individuals or teams, but they are required to increase quality, reduce costs, mitigate safety risks and improve decision-making. Drones present increasingly attractive opportunities for achieving these goals.
In schools, Media Studies students have been able to explore the potential of different shot types thanks to 4K drones with gimbals that are relatively cheap for the level of technology on offer. Some film makers have even used drones (such as the Matrice 300 RTK) for ground shots thanks to the quality of camera and smoothness of the gimbal.
Drones are the most advanced equipment in the field of robotics, aeronautics and electronics. Universities offering robotics studies allow students to explore the programming and technical specifications of drones.
As the marketing space becomes more crowded, brands are looking for new ways to deliver exceptional content. And many are using drone marketing to do it—whether by creating high-quality visuals, physically delivering products to customers, or just adding a “wow” factor to their campaigns.
When completing fieldwork drones can be used to complete risk assessments by evaluating potential hazards from a distance. Drones are also a great way to engage young people in geography. Drones can be used to capture images and videos of fieldwork locations prior to taking students.
Drone technology is expected to uplift the Gross Domestic Product in the UK’s construction industry by £8.6bn to 2030. Many construction courses offered by universities and collages discuss applications of drone technology in the construction industry, including photogrammetry, mapping, thermal imaging and BIM.
Drones provide a useful low-level aerial platform for recording historic buildings, monuments, archaeological sites and landscapes. Drones can provide dramatic illustrative photographs of sites, but can also be used to create metrically accurate records for survey and conservation work.
Understanding the physics behind how a drone operates is essential for any organisation running a UAV team. If you are going to be looking after potentially hundreds of drone pilots and drones, you need a stronger standard of understanding of how drones operate internally.
The Matrice 300 RTK is the latest commercial drone from DJI that takes inspiration from modern aviation systems. Offering up to 55 minutes of flight time and advanced AI capabilities, the M300 sets a whole new standard by combining intelligence with high-performance and unrivalled reliability.
Capture accurate details in any mission with the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced – a highly versatile yet compact tool that packs a whole lot of performance upgrades. With high-resolution thermal and visual cameras, the M2EA supports up to 32× digital zoom and is capable of centimetre-level positioning accuracy with the RTK module.
Built specifically with surveyors in mind, the Phantom 4 RTK incorporates a new real-time kinematics (RTK) system to maintain positional accuracy and deliver survey-grade data. With this launch, DJI has rethought its drone technology from the ground-up, revolutionizing its systems to achieve a new standard for drone accuracy.
The WingtraOne was the first VTOL fixed wing aircraft designed by Wingtra, to deliver exceptional data at a fraction of the time. Built with aerial mapping and surveying in mind, the WingtraOne produces unparalleled resolution and accuracy previously unachievable with traditional surveying methods.
Any school, college, or university offering practical training of drones, integrating UAVs into their courses and lessons, will have a clear competitive edge in securing top-grade students. Drones are making leaps and bounds in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) departments. There are few better modern tools to use in the classroom than drones.
Drones help to break up the monotonous grind of the school day, by allowing students and faculty members a reprieve from the arduous task of intensely focusing on the same topics over and over again, drones help to bring a sense of fun back into the learning environment.
Many educational bodies are turning to drones to allow them to capture highly accurate data, quickly and safely. Drones can be used for research in subjects such as Geography, Surveying, History and many more.

"Scientists at the University of Aberdeen and Oslo have been developing and testing new 3D thermal mapping technology using drones. Allowing them to gather very precise data in areas previously too dangerous to go on one of the most active volcanoes in the world on Stromboli."
British Beet Research Organisation
"We were looking at the right tools to use for my project to capture data during regular assessments of crops and that’s when I came across Multispectral imaging. We wanted a suitable drone to carry the Altum MicaSense."
"Thank you for your patience and communications whilst we arranged the NQE training at the University. I have had positive feedback from all of the candidates. The training delivered was clear and concise, and our trainer was happy to share his knowledge and experience with us."
