LIVE Webinar: How University of Leeds are using drones to Revolutionise Education
Keeping your course syllabus up-to-date with information about the latest technical advancements can be stressful, but what if you didn’t have to put hours into the research yourself? What if the course information was already written for you? AND, what if the content could be delivered by OFQUAL accredited experts, saving you even more time?
It may sound too good to be true but as University of Leeds’ Robert and Bilal will tell you, it’s completely possible with Coptrz Academy!
So, if you are working as a professor or lecturer in a field of study relating to UAVs, if you’re wondering how feasible it is to bring drone training in-house, or how easy it can be for your students to become qualified drone pilots, you’re in the right place.
Jamie Cording, Business Development Manager for Research and Learning, will be joined by special guests Robert Richardson, Professor of Robotics and Bilal Kaddouh, Lecturer in Aerial Robotics from University of Leeds. They have recently integrated GVC drone training into their syllabus with the help of Coptrz Academy, and they’ll be sharing their experience bringing drone training in-house.
You’ll learn first-hand how the University of Leeds has revolutionised the education of the next generation of engineers, robotics specialists, bioscientists, geographers, media professionals, and more all with the help of Coptrz Academy.
What you’ll learn on the webinar:
✓ How Leeds University and Coptrz created a bespoke training solution for students and staff
✓ What a day of drone training looks like for students at University of Leeds
✓ How integrating drone training into your syllabus can benefit your institute’s reputation
✓ How Coptrz can help you educate your students on an essential piece of technology
✓ What fields of study can benefit from the addition of drone training
✓ At the end, we’ll run a live Q&A where you can ask us anything!
Meet your host
“Hi! I’m Jamie, Business Development Manager for Research and Learning here at Coptrz. I’m looking forward to speaking to you all in this webinar about how I’ve helped the University of Leeds in adopting drone technology. Whether you’re wondering what training you’ll need and what drone will suit you best, or you already have an application in mind and are ready to take off in the exciting world of drones, I’m here to help you succeed.”
Professor Robert Richardson
Within the School of Mechanical Engineering at Leeds, Robert is the director of the Multi-disciplinary Institute of Design, Robotics and Optimisation at the University of Leeds (~70 members). He is a Fellow of the IMechE.
He has key roles in many large-scale research projects including, Pipebots, Trustworthy Autonomous Systems and AMPI (advanced machinery and productivity institute). He has also led an international team to develop and deploy robots into the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, developed and deployed autonomous surface water survey robots to map glacial melt lakes in Nepal, and developed robotic systems for autonomous COVID disinfection trialled in airports and city centres.
Dr Bilal Kaddouh
Bilal is a Lecturer in Aerial Robotics, at the University of Leeds, and an expert in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), robotics and autonomous systems. His work focuses on the design of autonomous aerial robots that inspect structures and perform structural maintenance in flight.
He leads the academic part of the UOL H&S drone policy. He is a certified drone pilot with 8 years of experience and has been involved in numerous flight tests in the UK and internationally. He designed and built an asphalt 3D printing UAS with ground manoeuvring capabilities and is currently researching and developing a UAV with manipulator for deploying and retrieving robots from high structures.
