The Goal
The objective of Oceanites was to use DJI Terra technology to collect and present penguin colony data to stakeholders for conservation decisions. Over the course of their work, Oceanites used DJI Mavic 3 Thermal drone and software technologies to improve their ability to count penguins and visualise the collected data. This enhanced their capability to tell compelling stories about the changes in Antarctic penguin populations as part of their educational efforts to promote understanding and conservation of these species.

Volume Measurements
Using DJI Terra's annotation tools, Oceanites can take precise volume measurements of objects such as elephant seals. This allows biologists to estimate the animals' mass, providing crucial data on their overall health and contributing valuable information for wildlife conservation studies.
Thermal Imaging
The DJI Mavic 3 Thermal drone enables Oceanites to detect penguins in challenging environments using infrared imagery. This is particularly useful for species like chinstrap penguins, which often nest in hidden crevices, ensuring accurate counts and better understanding of their nesting habits.
Quick In-Field Processing
DJI Terra allows Oceanites to process drone-captured imagery directly in the field on a laptop. This rapid processing results in orthorectified images and 3D models in les than a few hours, enabling immediate data analysis and decision-making on site.
