Has the DJI M600 Reached the end of the Road?

    Is the DJI M600 Dead?

    Ok, well maybe we are being slightly dramatic there. However, the DJI Matrice 600 has reached the end of it’s journey, and today we are going to look at the alternative options to the M600.

    DJI’s Matrice series is the drone choice for mapping, inspection and surveying. The Matrice series is an enterprise-level drone series from DJI and allows for a wide array of options and configurations in regard to payloads, cameras and precision. One of the most famous drones from the Matrice Series is the DJI M600 Drone.

    The Matrice 600 was DJI’s first heavy lifter drone. First released in 2016, the M600 is a hexacopter designed for professional aerial photography and industrial applications.

    The M600 started a new generation of aerial platforms, marking a new era for professional photographers and inspectors.

    The DJI M600 consisted of six rotors, to give it extra redundancies and stability. The drone came with 6 batteries for an extended flight time and safety in the air.

    Earlier this year, DJI announced that the M600 was to be discontinued. Which raised the question: “What will be the next big thing for inspection and aerial photography?” as always, we have got you covered.     DJI M300 

    A suitable replacement for the DJI M600 has got to be the M300. The Matrice 300 RTK is designed to improve upon the popular features of the Matrice 200 series and give you an even more capable, rugged and versatile solution.

    While the M600 had a maximum flight time of 35 minutes, the M300 RTK wipes the M600 with a maximum flight time of 55 minutes! One of the key improvements of the M300 is the Ingress Protection (IP) Rating. The M300 has an IP rating of IP45, meaning that the drone is tolerant of wet weather.

    The M300 RTK is protected against low-pressure jets of water, while the M600 was not water resistant at all.

    Similar to the DJI M600, the Matrice 300 RTK has six directional sensors and primary flight display positioning.

    DJI Matrice R210 RTK V2

    The DJI Matrice 210 RTK V2 (what a mouthful that is!), is the ultimate aerial tool, built specifically for industrial applications including surveying, building and inspection. Building on the DJI M600, the R210 includes enhanced intelligent control systems, flight performance and added data security features.

    The Matrice 210 RTK V2 is the premium model in the Matrice series, benefitting from dual gimbal compatibility and RTK functionality.

    AceCore Zoe

    The AceCore Zoe is a highly versatile quadcopter designed for easy transportation and capable of exceptional flight times of up to 40 minutes.

    The thing that sets the AceCore Zoe apart from every other quadcopter UAV is its ability to adapt to a specific mission. The Zoe can be easily adapted to work with integrated payloads of 6.5kg.

    Not only is the Zoe water-resistant, but it can also operate in wind gusts of up to 35 knots. Unlike the DJI M600, the AceCore Zoe only benefits from four rotors. However, increased redundancy is achieved with the use of an optional parachute kit.

    The Zoe can be used in a range of applications, including high-end filmmaking, inspection and aerial surveying. Zoe’s RTK precision guarantees an identical flight each time so you can compare and overlay 3D snapshots.

    Being a multirotor, the AceCore Zoe is capable of mapping smaller as well as larger areas with sharp corners. For automated land surveillance, the Zoe can be fitted with a MicaSense multispectral camera artificial intelligence.

    What is next for the DJI M600?

    While the original M600 has reached the end of the road, the M600 pro is still available to purchase. The Matrice 600 Pro inherits everything from the M600, with improved flight performance and better loading capacity. The M600 Pro comes with pre-installed arms and antennas to reduce the time required for setup, and the system’s modular design makes it easier to mount additional modules.
