DJI Matrice 100: The Review

The DJI Matrice 100 is a stable, flexible, and yet powerful platform. It’s designed for large-scale customization and has the ability to carry a variety of payloads. It’s one of the most versatile drones in the DJI range. Despite often being overlooked by the newer Matrice 200 Series, this quadcopter still has plenty to offer commercial drone operators.

Ease of flight:

The Matrice 100 comes with all of DJI’s easy-to-fly technology built in. It includes the flight controller, propulsion system, GPS, DJI Lightbridge, a dedicated remote controller, and a rechargeable battery.

It benefits from an upgraded version of the DJI E800 electric propulsion system to provide increased power during flight. Four integrated electronic speed controllers provide complete control during flight. The COPTRZ team found it particularly easy to fly during our original test of the platform. We were really impressed with the 40 minute flight time that can be achieved with the use of a second battery.

Customize the components:

The Matrice 100 is compatible with a number of DJI payloads including the Zenmuse X3, Zenmuse X5 and Zenmuse XT. However, it is likely to be the ability to customize the aircraft that will attract commercial operators. The additional expansion bay and easy access to DJI SDK will allow you to add additional third-party components. It’s a great platform for those looking to integrate LiDAR, photogrammetry and multispectral sensors.

Beauty is power

Not only does the Matrice 100 have superb battery life off the shelf, in addition to this you have the ability to add an extra battery compartment. This will allow you to achieve up to 40 minutes of flight time and gives that extra boost needed to run any additional payloads that you integrate.

A simplified airframe allows plenty of access underneath to bolt on your required third-party payloads.

You can take control of your Matrice 100 due to its long range, customizable controllers. It has an impressive operating distance of up to 1.2 miles, a rechargeable battery, fully adjustable controls, as well as outputs to connect to your phone if required.

An enhanced GPS system featuring a foldable mount allows you to track the Matrice 100’s position in real time, therefore enabling quicker satellite acquisition, as well as more accurate flight planning. – A must-have for those looking to use the Matrice 100 for mapping and surveying.

Summary

The DJI Matrice 100 is an excellent aircraft for commercial operators. Although it’s worth saying, if you’re looking for an easy-to-use out of the box solution, this isn’t the drone for you.
