DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology has finally launched their newest Enterprise Series drones designed with performance and public safety in mind.

The Mavic 3 Enterprise is an advanced precision drone, while the other, the Mavic 3 Thermal is specifically engineered for rescue work in dangerous environments like natural disaster zones or crime scenes where there could be hazardous materials on site that need inspection without risk of harming people nearby.

Mavic 3 Enterprise Vs Mavic 3 Thermal

    • Designed for high-precision surveying and inspection vs  geared toward public safety, search and rescue, and inspection
    • Hasselblad sensor in addition to a tele camera vs wide and tele cameras and a thermal sensor
    • Both drones are lightweight, foldable, and portable, have a 45-minute flight time and are compatible with the new DJI RC Pro Enterprise smart controller and DJI FlightHub 2

DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal finally unveiled

The new Mavic 3 Enterprise is a high-performance portable surveying and inspection drone, capable of achieving GCP-free centimetre accuracy, whereas the Mavic 3 Thermal combines a high-resolution infrared sensor and a visual camera to provide a powerful solution for public safety, search and rescue, and inspection missions.

Due to their lightweight design (M3E: 915g / M3T: 920g), they can fly for up to 45 minutes before needing to land or be charged. They both have integrated advanced safety features, including omnidirectional object sensing, as well as O3 Enterprise transmission.

Both drones are compatible with DJI FlightHub 2, DJI Terra, Pilot 2 app, and the new DJI RC Pro Enterprise smart controller, as well as a range of accessories such as an RTK Module and a loudspeaker.

    Camera Specs

The image capabilities of the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal are seriously impressive. The Mavic 3E features a Hasselblad camera and a tele camera for surveying, whereas the M3T has a wide camera, a tele camera, and a thermal sensor.

    High-accuracy drone surveying

The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise is a powerful and precise survey drone. Its camera capabilities are specially designed for drone mapping, and they include:

    • High-quality Hasselblad sensor
    • Rapid 0.7-second interval shooting
    • Mechanical Shutter to eliminate vibrations when travelling at high speeds
    • Large Pixel Dimensions: 3.3um
    • Intelligent Low-Light Mode for increased performance in low-light environments

The DJI Mavic 3 is a game changer for surveyors everywhere.

The UAV’s short shooting interval, massive pixel size and maximum flight time of 45 minutes makes it an efficient surveying tool for Civil Engineers. In one day’s work (at an altitude of 150m) the drone can cover 16 square kilometres with 80% front overlap as well as 70% side coverage which includes 15 meters per second speed!

With its unique RTK Module, the Mavic 3 Enterprise delivers TimeSync and centimetre-level precision without using the Google Cloud Platform. When compared to the M300 RTK-P1 set-up, the M3E is the ideal solution for entry-level drone surveyors or those looking for a more cost-effective alternative. The Mavic 3 Enterprise is similar in size and price to the DJI Phantom 4 RTK, but the Mavic 3E does have advanced features that make it more portable and efficient.

DJI has announced that their new Smart Features will be coming in later this year. These include real-time terrain following and an oblique capture mode for the P1 photogrammetry camera on top of its already impressive features.

    Enhanced safety

The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal feature updated safety features such as:

Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing | Multiple wide-angle vision sensors that operate in tandem with a high-performance vision computation engine to precisely detect obstacles in all directions and calculate a safe flight path around them

APAS 5.0 | While flying, the drone detects objects in all directions and rapidly and effortlessly avoids them

Advanced RTH | Automatically determines and executes the best route return to the home point

Furthermore, the drones include an integrated flight beacon and O3 Enterprise transmission for a powerful and stable connection with the longest transmission distance at 8 kilometres (CE).

    DJI RC Pro Enterprise controller

The new DJI RC Pro Enterprise controller is a more powerful and reliable system, designed with a more robust central processor. This means that when using the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal, your flights will be smoother and more seamless than ever before!

Including all the features you need:

    • 5-inch touchscreen display
    • 1,000-nit high brightness screen
    • 3 hours of battery life
    • Fully charged in 1½ hours

Both drones use the DJI Pilot 2 software to plan routes and execute planning functions such as waypoint, mapping, and linear, with the controller having an internal battery rather than an external one.

    Accessories

A range of accessories is available for the Mavic’s, including an RTK module and loudspeaker that facilitates real-time speech.

The RTK module allows the M3E to do highly accurate surveying, while the M3T RTK attachment allows for centimetre-level light positioning. The only disadvantage is that it cannot be used for surveying.

    DJI FlightHub2 and DJI Terra

The Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal are compatible with both the DJI FlightHub 2 and DJI Terra.

    DJI FlightHub 2

The DJI FlightHub 2 is a revolutionary new product that will change the way that operators manage their drone operations. The cloud-based system allows for comprehensive, real-time situational awareness so there are no gaps in coverage and complete peace of mind when in flight.

    DJI Terra

DJI Terra is an easy-to-use mapping software designed to assist industry professionals in converting real-world scenarios into digital assets that can be used to create maps, models, and conduct analysis.

DJI is including a three-month DJI Terra Electricity Edition licence with the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavics, which can be activated automatically when you activate your drone.

    Final thoughts

The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal are sophisticated portable drones that can contribute significantly to a commercial UAS programme.

The M3E offers a more compact surveying alternative than DJI’s other lightweight mapping aircraft, the Phantom 4 RTK. Its low cost and small size make it an excellent entry-level surveying drone, as well as an incredibly transportable choice for fast mapping missions.

The M3T is the next generation of the Mavic 2 Enterprise Series, and its quick deployment and easy transportability, combined with a multi-sensor suite that includes thermal capabilities, make it a great solution for public safety and search and rescue.
